1. You are supposed to shake hands. be supposed to do… 应该…被期望做…，当句子的主语是人时，它可以用来表示劝告，建议，义务，责任等，= “be expected to do sth/should do/have to do sth.” e.g.

1. Where I’m from, we are pretty relaxed about time. where, “…的地方”, 引导地点状语从句，说明主句行为发生的地点。e.g.

relaxed adj. 放松的，自在的 be relaxed about … 对……感到放松 e.g.

1). Don’t be afraid, just the interview.不要害怕，轻松面试。

2. We value the time we spend with our family and friends in our everyday lives. value v. 珍视，重视 e.g.

7. Also, we never visit a friend’s house without calling first. never和without是双重否定句，合在一起表达肯定意义，“一定会”。 e.g.

1. They go out of their way to make me feel at home. go out of one’s way to do sth 特地做…；努力做… e.g.

John his girl friend happy. 约翰想方设法使他的女朋友高兴。

make sb. feel at home 使某人感到宾至如归e.g.

2. You wouldn’t believe how quickly my French has improved because of that. You wouldn’t believe …是一个常用句式，译为“你无法想象…；你想都想不到…；你绝不会相信…”，表示所陈述的事情超出想象之外

类似的表达还有You would never believe…或You would hardly believe…。例如：

2).The most important thing is . 最重要的事是及时到达那里。

behave vi，意为“表现；行为”，表现好 .表现糟糕 .

它的名词 behavior (举止；行为)，是不可数名词。良好表现 .恶劣行为 .

【运用】请根据汉语意思补全英语句子，每空一词。

4. Another example is that you’re not supposed to eat anything with your hand except bread, not even fruit.

except作介词，意为“除…之外”，和but意义相似，表减除之意， 但语气上要比but更加强烈。but 常常和定代词连用。besides “除…外、此外”，表叠加意义。 试用 besides, except, but填空：
